Rufus’s POV

‘What did you do?’ Silver growled in my mind as I began to panic at the fire that started to creep across the wall ‘I can’t leave you for ten…’

‘Shut up!’ I growled in response to my wolf ‘I don’t have time for your sarcasm now, wolf! Freya is terrified and her powers have endangered us.’

Out of the corner of my eye, I saw Milo bring a fire extinguisher to the flames, the white foam shot from the nozzle as he began to cover the flames, and they started to diminish quickly.

‘You idiot,’ Silver grunted ‘And you thought letting Elaine Luddington in was a good idea. How could you not consider how Freya would feel about all this?’

‘I am an idiot,’ I growled, a simmer boiling in my throat ‘But now isn’t the time to lecture me on what I should have done, I need to save my family.’

Pushing the wolf to the back of my mind, I could see Milo had the fire under control, but I had to make sure everyone was safe in the meantime.
