Elena's POV.

Mercy's voice brought me back to reality, her hands snapping in front of my face.

"Sorry," I mumbled, shaking my head and trying to clear the cobwebs.

"What were you thinking about?" she asked, her eyes narrowing with concern.

But I just shoved her aside and walked away, not wanting to get into it. I couldn't tell her the truth - that I was thinking Derek, about how messed up my emotions were. About how he shows he wants me today and the next day it is as if I'm forcing myself on him.

I made my way to my car, trying to make sure my hair covered my love bites and avoided drawing attention to myself. I spotted Adam and Anna arguing in the corner, and I chuckled to myself.

"Bye, see you tomorrow," I said, hugging Mercy tightly. She was always so concerned about me, but I couldn't tell her the truth.

"Are you sure you're okay?" she asked, her eyes searching mine.<
