Chapter 273. New Bond

~3RD PERSON'S POV~

Marie stood on the building’s balcony late at night, staring down at the front yard. She carried a blank expression on her face and tightly gripped the protective railing that went around the tiled ground on which she stood. 

The wind blew through her hair and through her short-sleeved dress, her skirt dancing randomly to its soft fluttering sounds. Memories of their encounter with the former Heralds went back and forth in her head as she felt the cold breeze on her skin. 

Different emotions ran through her heart, and different thoughts went through her head. She was conflicted, not knowing whether to feel regret or happiness for the outcome of the encounter. 

She closed her eyes and let out a sigh, then loosened her grip on the railing.

“Why did you suddenly have a change of heart?” Valerie’s voice sounded from behind her.
