Chapter 9. Mate, Not Sister

Ivy's POV

"Ivy, do you have any plans for tonight?" my mother asked me. Everybody turned their attention to me, anticipating my answer.

Well, sorry to disappoint… "There's a book I started a few days ago that I haven't had time to sit down and finish. I'll be reading that."

My mother was clearly not impressed by my plans. Sean wasn't either, as he loudly commented, "Bookworm."

I ignored him and kept on eating.

"Come on, dear," my mother told me. "It's summer, you should have fun. You read a lot, maybe you should take a break and go outside. You can't spend all summer cooped up in your room with a book."

"Reading is fun for me," I told her.

"Other things can be fun too," she insisted. "If you tried going outside, you would realise that. Also, you won't make any friends if you stay indoors all the t
