Swinging my gaze from my mate to the elder woman, I waited with my heart in my throat.

“I have not figured that out as yet, my child,” Miriam said, clearly agitated about something.

“I was hoping that you would have said no,” so much for wishful thinking. “Vance?”

“Miriam has been calling her eagle from Valen’s side and she refused to leave him,” Vance explained. “The eagle has grown attached to our son.”
