Penelope awoke from her slumber. She was astonished that Elijah was no longer with her because she didn’t know it was already 7:30 a.m.

She didn’t want to appear sluggish in front of Dylan’s grandmother, Harper, so she raced up and groomed herself. Penelope retrieved some of her face-washing items from the bag she and Elijah were carrying, but first, she checked her phone to see what texts she had gotten.

She checked it and discovered that she had received eight new texts. Nevertheless, she only read one of them; it was Lucas’ message.
