The clock showed 12:56, and I strained to hear voices from the living room. I worried about being rejected. What if he doesn't like me, and my parents blame me? Questions rushed through my mind. What's he like? What's his name?
Oddly, despite the uncertainty, I started to smile. The idea of marriage intrigued me, and I imagined my life taking a new turn. A few minutes later, I heard my mother call, "Seraphina." Even though I knew it was an act, I embraced it. I grabbed the tray with teacups, took a deep breath, and went to the living room.
