Chapter 128. New Plan
Joan POV
Aaron got a call, and that was what ended the practice. It was a call from one of his men.
I stared at him as he walked away from me, standing just far enough that I couldn’t hear what the man was saying to him.
My gaze dropped to the gun in my hands. I walked over to the small porch and placed it on the floor.
I shot a gun today. It didn’t matter if I got it right or not—it meant one thing. If I had access to a gun, I could shoot it without getting myself hurt.
That was the purpose of all this from the beginning, right?
Aaron came back toward me. His face had darkened, his expression stormy. He grabbed my arm without a word and started walking me back into the house.
“Hey. What’s wrong?” I asked, glancing at him. He didn’t respond. A muscle twitched in his jaw, and he remained silent.
I hated that.
“Aaron? I need to know if something is going on,” I bit out, my tone a little sharper now. Still, nothing.
