Chapter 106. Unwanted Visit

Maureen's POV

I lay in Lance's hands all through the night wondering why I felt as if I just lost a child. I had felt an instant connection with the soldiers when I met them.

When I met Alan too, it was the same feeling. I had not wanted Lance to feel jealous that was why I didn't tell him how I felt towards Asher since the first time I laid eyes on him in Amman's pack. 

My hatred for the Council's Vice President was so great that I shook from the effect. 

'Reen are you okay?' Lance asked and made me turn to face him on the bed. He must have noticed the way I trembled.

When he saw my eyes, he gasped in surprise, and I knew immediately that my eyes had changed color. He placed his palm on my cheek and caressed me gently.

'You need to calm down, my love, or else you will give yourself out,' Lance said.
