Chapter 14. I Will Wait

Kyle’s POV

Leaning up against the wall, I watch as students file out of Eryn’s homeroom classroom, but none of them are Eryn. I get a strange feeling in the pit of my stomach. Something is not right.

The bouncy blonde I recognize as Eryn’s best friend is the last to leave the classroom. She glances in my direction but quickly looks away. She runs down the hall to get away from me, but the crowd stops her from getting too far.

“Hey,” I call after her, but she doesn’t turn around.

I take several long strides to catch up with her, and she rolls her eyes at me. “What?”

“Where is Eryn?” I ask as politely as I can.

“How should I know?” She snaps back at me.

I am confused by her hostility. “Aren’t you her best friend?”

“I was before she turned into a whore,” the perky blonde replies angrily.

Her response shocks me. Eryn is more innocent than most, and the little experience she has was with me. “Are we talking about the same Eryn?
