Kyle’s POV

Hushed voices wake me from my sleep. I try to open my eyes, but it is painful. I reach up and touch my face, and it feels numb to the touch. Running my fingers over my cheeks, they feel tight and swollen. Squeezing my eyes shut, I try to force them open again, but they only open slightly.

My vision is blurry, but I can make out my father speaking to another man. “No one can know about the nature of what happened,” my father tells the man. “It will ruin Kyle’s life.”

“What do you suggest?” The man asks. “We can’t force the girl into silence.”

“You will have to figure something out,” my father growls. “Make the girl think it was her idea.”

“I am a doctor,” the man hisses in return. “I perform medicine, not magic. I cannot change her memories.”

“Then put her in a coma until we can get rid of Alpha Atticus,” my father insists. “Once he is gone, she can wake up and think he has abandoned her.”
