Chapter 61. Amends
Eryn’s POV
Emma unlocks the door to her apartment and waits for me to step inside. We haven’t spoken in well over a year, and things are awkward between us. I peek inside the apartment before stepping in. Things are neat and tidy, not at all like her bedroom while we were growing up.
“There’s only one bedroom,” Emma tells me nervously.
“I can take the couch,” I say quietly.
Emma steps inside and shuts the door behind her. She walks into the kitchen and opens the fridge. “You must be starved,” she says as she pulls a couple of containers out. “You can help yourself to anything. Make yourself at home.”
I open one of the containers and find freshly made chicken salad. The smell immediately fills the kitchen, and Emma covers her mouth and runs down the hall. I can hear her puking from the kitchen, and it kills my appetite.
I walk down the hall and lean up against the wall across from the bathroom. Emma didn’t close the door, and she is hovering
