Chapter 57. Promises

Zach’s POV

Dad and I are standing outside Eryn’s hospital room, listening to what the doctor has to say. I am only catching bits and pieces of the conversation. I am too focused on Eryn. I can see her through the little window on the door. There is a tube down her throat, and wires and tubes seem to be connected to every inch of her body.

“Trauma… Medically induced coma… Permanently marked by the future Alpha,” is all I hear coming from the doctor, but the last part catches my attention.

“What do you mean permanently marked?” I snarl at the doctor.

The doctor clears his throat, and his eyes shift between my father and me. Beads of sweat begin to form on his brow. He doesn’t want to tell us the truth. “Your daughter has been marked by the future Alpha. She is now his second mate.”
