Chapter 96. He Wants to Talk to You
Caliana’s POV
Five months had passed, and somehow, in ways I couldn’t quite explain, I had survived them. More than that—I had grown into them. The baby inside me was growing beautifully, strong and healthy, and every day I felt a little more anchored to the present instead of drowning in the past. I sat on the edge of the bed, sunlight spilling through the open window, holding the ultrasound pictures in my hands. My fingers traced the black-and-white shapes reverently, as if touching them too roughly might make the moment disappear.
I smiled softly. There you were. My little miracle.
So much had changed in five months, and yet, so much of me was still the same woman who had run away with a shattered heart and too many unanswered questions. The difference was that now, when I looked at these images, I didn’t feel fear. I felt resolve. Purpose
