Chapter 36. Misunderstandings

As my father finally departed, I couldn't help but let out an exasperated sigh. The day was hectic, barely past two in the afternoon.

 "What does this mean, Liam?" Cecilia questioned without hesitation. Her tone, more than the question itself, heightened my irritation, and I couldn't help but respond rudely.

 "I'm sure your intelligence is sufficient to understand what was said, Cecilia."

 Cecilia glared at me with evident anger, ready to retort, but Marta intervened before she could.

 "You two can't keep arguing like this! Anyone could come in and hear."

 Marta was right, but I couldn't resist sarcasm as I promptly suggested, "Then let's discuss in my office, Cecilia," pointing to the door of my study.

 It was Marta's turn to release an exasperated sigh, covering her eyes in a sign of discontent. However, seeming resigned, Marta grabbed Cecilia's arm and guided her to my office. I had no choice but to follow them.
