Chapter 40. Tension in the Room

Liam

My parents leave the room, leaving me alone with Cecilia. Her accusatory gaze hits me like a lightning bolt, and I know exactly what is leading her to this. I am also extremely irritated with myself. I hadn't thought about the fact that I would have to share a room with Cecilia. Or maybe I did think about it, but consciously chose to ignore this detail, letting it sink into the abyss of my subconscious.

Cecilia crossed her arms, keeping her gaze fixed on me. I try to maintain a calm expression, but I know I'm not fooling anyone.

"So, was this part of the plan, Liam? Sharing a room as if we were a real couple?" she asks, her voice mixing suspicion and discontent.

I take a deep breath before responding, trying to find the right words that won't worsen the situation.

"Cecilia, I... I didn't plan this. It was a detail that slipped my mind," I admitted, running my hand through my hair in a sign of frustration.
