Chapter 48. Difficult Night

The door to the room opens, and tension seizes my body. I had already imagined this moment and considered how I would act after the scene I witnessed on the beach. I decided to stick to the plan I've laid out in my mind.
I remain motionless, eyes closed, as if I were surrendered to a peaceful sleep. I control my breathing, feigning the calm that is far from existing within me. Liam calls my name, but I choose to continue the charade.
