Chapter 10
Cara's POV
In the evening, there was a knock on the door. I couldn't deny that my heart skipped a beat. I was nervous. Who was this person looking for? Because it certainly couldn't be me. I wasn't comfortable around any of the wolves, not yet, not soon. I only felt safe with Rollins and Teo, but when the person wouldn't go away, I walked to the door, slowly and dramtically I pulled it open. I let out a breath when I noticed it was only a kind-looking woman in her mid-forties.
She bowed, and I almost stopped her; she could be my mother. This was awkward, but she didn't seem to mind.
"Good day, Luna. I'm Chloe, a maid here, and the Alpha sent me to get you ready for... the date," she said, pronouncing the last words like they were the weirdest words she had ever heard.
I nodded, opening the door wider for her to come in, then I shut the door.
