Orion’s POV

I was at my desk, going through a pile of contracts when I heard heavy footsteps heading down the hallway. I initially thought nothing of it, assuming one of my managers was rushing to a meeting. But the sound continued and started to get louder and firmer.

With no knock, the door swung wide open. A bunch of men entered, looking cold and professional. They stepped in, their eyes scanning the room like predators.

“What the hell is this?” I jumped out of the chair. “Who are you people?”

One of them pulled out a badge from her pocket and flashed it at me. Her voice was cool, but assertive. “Government investigators. We’ve come to search, and here’s the warrant. Your company is under investigation.”

I clenched my jaw. “Investigation? For what?”

The woman did not hesitate. “Illegal cost-cutting practices. False financial reports. Stolen funds from project accounts. We have the right to search every inch of this office.”

I felt
