Layla’s POV
I woke up with a smile on my face, I could see the sunlight streaming through the curtains. I stretched out, a slight smile on my face as I recalled my thought, Orion was in jail.
He was finally facing consequences for all the things he had done.
My phone buzzed before I could sit up properly, and the name on the screen only made me grin bigger.
Ezra.
Without thinking, I picked up right away.
“Hello?” I said, yawning.
“Layla,” he said, his calm, steady voice ringing through the phone. “Good morning, how are you this morning?”
I sat up, my heart warming just by the sound of his voice. “Good morning, Ezra. I’m… I’m happy. Waking up and knowing Orion is really behind bars—it’s unreal.”
“It’s real,” Ezra said, reassuring me. “The case is closed. He won’t be getting out anytime soon.”
I breathed slowly out, feeling relief. “Thanks again,” I said softly.
