Chapter 107. This Is Enough to Ruin Him
Layla’s POV
The weight of silence hung in the air, feeling as if it was burying me. Ezra stood across from me, stone-faced and cold.
I could see the raging storm I had created in him. I felt tightness in my chest because I knew, this time, it was not Orion who had hurt me. It was I who had hurt Ezra.
I had messed up. Badly.
“Ezra,” I said, almost inaudible, my voice shaky.
He didn’t respond. Didn’t even flinch. His jaw tightened, shoulders raised. He was looking at me as if he weighed the choice on whether or not to believe me and if I had already ruined our trust beyond repair.
My hands were shaking as I waded through my bag. I pulled out the rolled-up documents I had removed from Orion’s office. I held the documents out to Ezra, my voice pulling faltering.
“Here. This is what I came for. This is the paper I told you about before the gala!”
He looked at the papers then at me. He didn’t move.
