Chapter 11
The next day, Maya got a strange visit from an old friend, Trisha.
From what Maya could gather, Trisha was in trouble, and she needed some form of help to sort things out.
“I am really sorry for bothering you,” Trisha began. “It is just that I don’t know who I am going to talk to about my problem.”
Maya watched as Trisha slowed down a bit before continuing.
“Ever since my husband abandoned me,” Trisha swallowed slowly. “I have had to beg for money. And it is not easy for me. I know it sounds kind of awkward for me to be bothering you with my problems, but you need to understand where I am coming from.”
Maya looked at Trisha with eyes full of pity.
“I need money, Maya,” Trisha swallowed. “I am badly in need of money.”
“Well,” Maya frowned. “How can I help you? Do you have a job?”
Trisha looked away. “I do have a job,” she said. “But my boss keeps underpaying me.”
Maya frowned. “Can’t you threaten to leave or something like that?”<
