Chapter 23
Ever since his experience with Roderick, Max had not remained the same. Sleeping in his house had become incredibly difficult to a point that he began to wonder if he was under the influence of some foreign spirit that wanted to take control of his life.
After trying very hard to sleep with very little progress, Max decided to get up from bed and take a walk.
Outside, he could feel the warm breeze blowing round his body. He could feel the hair on his skin responding to the breeze.
Max took the left corner of the street and was about to cross the road when he mistakenly stumbled upon a young woman's dog.
"Excuse me?" Mary sounded pissed as Max wanted to apologize for hitting her dog.
Max's heart raced as he stumbled over his words, caught off guard by Mary's abrupt tone. "I-I'm so sorry," he stammered, his cheeks turning a shade of crimson. "I didn't mean to startle your dog. Is he okay?"
