Maya folded her hands and dropped her legs on the table as she stared at Max who was standing a few distance away from her.

Max was quiet.

"So, what happened?" Maya asked when she could no longer deal with the silence that was going on between the two of them.

"I ended things with Mary for good so I can be with you. Basically, I choose you over Mary."

"You choose me over Mary?" Maya sat up. "There shouldn't be a choice in the first place especially when we were already in a serious relationship that could possibly lead to marriage."

"I know," Max admitted. "But, my relationship with you was going through a difficult phase. You seemed distant a lot of times."

Maya raised an eyebrow skeptically. "Distant? And that's your justification for pursuing someone else while we were still together?"
