Chapter 80
"A pigeon?" Maya whispered.
It wasn't very big. It wasn't much bigger than Leon, but the boy was amazed.
"It's so pretty. Look, Mommy! It's so pretty!"
The bird flapped its wings and took flight again. It looked like it was enjoying itself, like it was dancing. The pigeon flew around the house, flying between the trees, as if it were dancing to the music. It would disappear behind a tree for a second or two, and then reappear on the other side of the house. It would land on the roof for a second before taking off again.
Leon started to walk toward the house.
"Be careful, Leon." Maya called after the boy.
Leon walked toward the roof. The bird flapped its wings, and Leon stopped walking.
