Chapter 29. Mine
He just smiled at me and left. I walked out of the café. I glanced at the clock inside and was surprised to see that it was already eight o'clock! Roy and Auntie Anne said they'd be quick, so why hasn't anyone come to pick me up yet?
To make matters worse, heavy rain suddenly poured down. I huddled under the eaves to avoid getting too wet, but the wind kept blowing the rain toward me. Annoyed, I wiped myself off.
I felt embarrassed when the waiters and waitresses who were leaving the café glanced at me. It was good that they had umbrellas. Minutes passed, and the place inside emptied. I was the only one left outside. Thankfully, there was a light here, so it wasn't too scary. However, it was extremely cold because my long-sleeve shirt was soaked from the rain.
Instead of putting it on, I took it off and wrung it out. I'd get even wetter if I put it back on.
