Chapter 73. Secretary
"Amari, wait for Mama," I said as he started running away from me. He happily went inside the house. This wasn't our first visit here, especially for Amari, who had practically been pestering Carl to bring him here ever since he turned three.
I knocked on Carl's office door when we arrived. It was still early, but I wanted to let him know we were here.
"Papa!" Amari called as she ran towards him. Carl was already smiling even before he turned to us. He stood up and picked up Amari.
"Early birds," he sarcastically remarked as he glanced at me.
"Better early than late," I replied. It was only three in the afternoon, and besides, it was good that we came later. As far as I knew, he had a morning meeting.
"Have you had your snacks?" Carl asked.
I shook my head. "Amari was in a hurry. She practically had a meltdown earlier," I complained. I glanced at my daughter, who signaled me to hush. I stuck my tongue out playfully.
