Xavier's POV

Her voice sounded exhausted, but she tried to sound as snappy as possible.

"Don't you greet each other before asking what the reason for your visit is?" I walked through the hallway and stopped in the open living and dining area.

"These pleasantries have never been important before. So why now?" She leaned against the wall and looked at me with dull, bored eyes.

“I wanted to make sure you met my deadline. The three days are up, but I think I already have my answer." I turned to her and looked her up and down. She looked even thinner than a month ago. Her cheeks were sunken, and her skin had lost color.

"Well, if you already have your answer, you can go again," I growled, making her jump slightly before she regained her composure.

"There's the door, so please." She pointed her hand towards the door and looked at me expectantly.
