Xavier's POV

I don't know what was wrong with me. But slowly, I gave up. I had no strength left. I felt drained. Didn't see any progress in our relationship. She could remember things again that seemed far away days ago. But if she remembers little things like that, she will also remember the big picture. Of what I am to her. What I will always be. A monster.

On the day she was released, I told her everything. I no longer saw any point in hiding anything from her or keeping it a secret. She would find out at some point anyway.
