Chapter 61

Zoey's POV

"I just went for a walk," I mumbled, trying to hide the blood stains on my shirt as best as I could despite the transparent darkness.

“Don’t kid me, Zoey! "But not three hours." I bit my cheek. Zane had stayed awake to wait for me.

“Have you ever thought that I’m worried? There are so many people out there who hate you because of what you do in training. Don't do that to me, damn it!" Zane's voice was cutting, but you could hear the weariness and the restlessness.

I began to tremble almost imperceptibly and held my hand to my arm. As I tipped my head back, tears pooled in my eyes.

Why had I been so stupid?

Zane noticed my trembling despite the darkness. His mouth opened slightly. "Are you okay?" he breathed quietly and looked at me with wide eyes. When I just avoided his gaze, he patted the bed next to him and moved to the side a little. I swayed and sat down on the bed. I would never have thought that I would walk over
