I stared back at the king, but he was still fixed on his food, whereas the queen… her sharp gaze was still looming in my direction.

I quickly looked away, feeling a huge hard lump in my throat. “Leah,” I whispered again, but my wolf didn’t answer.

The girl dished out food for Ryder and smiled as she moved the plate of food toward him. And I was left with no food.

There were a lot of different kinds of food on the table; everyone was digging in and eating, but I just couldn’t bring myself to stand up and start serving myself in the midst of these people.

And the worst part, my stomach was screaming for me to feed it.
