I rolled my eyes at the closed door and then shifted my gaze back to him.

“You didn’t come to see Ryder,” my words were more like a conclusion than a question.

I noticed something when I stepped in here, the look on their faces. They are obviously discussing something, something that I seem not to have any idea about.

And oddly, he looked regretful. Really?

His sigh drew my curious eyes back to him.

“I was on my way there when…” he paused for a while before sighing. His gaze fixed on the wall in front of him, well, behind me. “...I was in front of the door before I saw it,” he added and I frowned.

“Saw what?”

“The mark… her birthmark,” his gaze now moved to mine. The concern and regret in his eyes worsened my curiosity.

“What mark are you talking about?” I asked, stepping further into the room as if getting closer would bring answers to my curiosity.

“You remembered the good man from the Renegades?”
