Chapter 37
“Sit here,” Raven pointed to the monobloc chair he grabbed from a nearby tree. I thought he would be the one sitting on it, but he took it for me.
As I sat down, I only occupied half of the seat to leave him some space. “Oh, there’s still room. You can sit too.”
He chuckled and shook his head. “No need.”
“Don’t be stubborn!” I scowled at him. “Just sit!”
I patted the space I left for him and after a few seconds, he finally sat down.
“Eunice.” I turned to him, thinking he had made a mistake in calling my name, but he was actually looking at Eunice’s tombstone.
“This is Leslie… she’s a very, very great friend.” Raven glanced at me momentarily, smiled, and then returned his gaze to Eunice’s tombstone. “Without Leslie, I don’t think I’d still be here… I don’t think I’d still be alive.”
As Raven uttered those words, my heart suddenly went haywire… and I could feel the blood rushing to my head, making my face turn crimson.
