Shifting back into my wolf form, I followed the scent of the child back down the stairs to the spot which had confused me earlier. Focusing my senses on that area, I realised a trail of it headed off into the opposite direction, toward the front door.

The door was open, as the light breeze blew it open and closed ever so gently, the creeks of its hinges eerie as the sun began to set outside.

"She's gone" I alerted Rory inside my mind "The trail heads outside, I think she's gone into the woods'
