Chapter 52. Fear and Regret
Emma's POV
My face twisted in rage, and I launched myself at the alpha, but he was too quick. He caught my wrists and held me back, his grip like a vice.
“Don’t struggle, Emma,” he warned, his eyes glinting with a fierce light. “You won’t win. And even if you did manage to escape, you wouldn’t get far.”
“Let me go, you arrogant monster!” I spat, trying to wrench my wrists free from the alpha’s grasp.
“Ah, Emma, you are so fiery,” the alpha said, his eyes gleaming with amusement. “I like that. But you are not going anywhere.”
“You think you can trap me?” I asked, my voice incredulous. “You think I am some kind of possession? I am a person, not a thing to be owned!”
The alpha shrugged. “Semantics, Emma. You are under my protection now. And that means you will do what I say.”
“Protection?” I laughed, a harsh, mocking sound. “You call this protection? You are holding me prisoner!”
