Chapter 83. A Magical Barrier

Emma’s POV

Parker’s eyes flashed with anger and he snapped, grabbing the sword of another guard who was already dead on the floor to fight instead. Bennett, on the other hand, was fighting without break.

Hunter was being calculative, his actions filled with restraint as if careful not to kill the guards and that made me wonder if it had anything to do with his profession or he just wanted to maintain his virtue.

One glance around again and I could tell we were not going to make it. There were just many guards around.

In the chaos, I found myself face to face with the lead guard. I fought hard, but he was too strong. He struck me with a vicious blow, sending me crashing to the ground. As I struggled to get to my feet, I saw Bennett and Parker fighting to reach me, but they were surrounded. The guard raised his foot, ready to deliver the final blow.
