Chapter 90. Hidden Agreement

Emma’s POV

My eyes fluttered closed as I focused on the warmth of Bennett’s hand, the steady beat of his heart. I took a deep breath, trying to calm the storm raging inside me.

My eyes opened, my gaze meeting Bennett’s. There was warmth in his eyes. And in that moment, I felt a sense of gratitude toward him. I didn’t know how to react if he hadn’t been here. The revelation was breaking me.

But as I looked up at Bennett, saw the concern etched on his face, I felt a tiny crack in my armor. Maybe, just maybe, I could let them in.

With a nod, I took another deep breath, trying to calm the turbulent emotions inside me. I knew I couldn’t avoid my mother’s revelation forever, but for now, I was grateful for Bennett’s steady presence. This was a tough time for me and my whole body was trembling. I wanted to leave here because I couldn’t stand the feeling of being brought, feeling my mother’s presence near me. This was the first time I was seeing her.
