Chapter 106. Doom

Tension filled the air. The deafening silence grew; my head was a loud mess of “what ifs.” I was mad at myself and mad at Scott. I hated being weak. If I were strong enough, none of this would have happened.
Going over the interrogation following the arrival of the cops, I got even more pissed. Had they come to ask questions to understand the situation better, or just because they wanted to make me go over the experience a few times?
“That’s enough! Can’t you see she’s—”
“Sir, we’re just doing our job,” the officer cut in.
“Then do it properly,” Scott bit back.
Placing my hand on his, I silently begged him not to say anything else.
“You are aware the victim might press charges—”
Scott’s body went still, tension exuding from him. It was like he was fighting for control.
“Victim? Victim… Did you just say, ‘victim’?”
The officer dared to nod, confirming Scott’s question.
My blood boiled; my vision blurred.
