“If he has anything to do with the mafia, then he’s just an errand boy.”
The eyes of both women were fixed on me.
“What do you mean?” Phoebe asked, a glimmer of hope in her eyes.
Eliana’s look was quite different; if eyes could kill, I would be dead.
“I have connections to the Mafia…” I muttered, staring deep into Eliana’s eyes. Her pupils dilated. I could only imagine what was going on in her head.
“Scott…” Ellie whispered.
Closing my eyes, I shook my head slowly, letting her know it wasn’t the time for questions.
“What proof does he have to back his claims?”
Phoebe seemed to focus on remembering details.
“I don’t know… he had weird friends. He is rich, owns guns and strange weapons—”
“Any creep can have that.” My voice was calm.
