Chapter 72. Morning Scare

Stirred awake, stretching my rested bones. Eliana’s alarm relentlessly screeched for attention, repeatedly making the same annoying sound.
With that sound, you do not need motivation to get up and get going. Reaching for the damn alarm, I put off the damn thing. I then rolled to the side hoping to press the woman behind the dangerous alarm sound against my body.
I had expected to feel her smooth skin under my palm. Instead, I felt cold wrinkled sheets. She was not in bed.
My heart skipped a beat, I had no reason to worry…I had a dozen reasons, a lot of them.
“Eliana?” I called calmly, hoping for a response.
I tried to call, but there was no answer.
I searched every room, bathrooms, every corner of the house. Just one response and all will be alright. I dialed her line once more, hoping for a response this time. Her phone was switched off. My thoughts ran wild. Where do I begin to search?
“Ethan!” I called out in frustratio
