Chapter 9. Hypocritical

Eliana

“I will get someone to drop you off.” Mr. Scott said, walking away from me. I had come to him, straight from the party. It began to rain the minute I got into the Uber—something I could use to my own advantage.

Despite my advances, he still pushed me away. The heart was breaking, the alcohol didn’t help with that. He’d even advised me to find someone else after I confessed my love to him. How could he?

“I’m not leaving, I’ll stay here. You wouldn’t want me getting sick, would you?” I said, dramatically. If my love was not even for him, then I’ll use his affection for me against him. I know he cares for me, he always has. Sadly, as a man cares for his niece.

“You’re welcome to stay in the guest bedroom. Follow me.” I didn’t have to be told twice. On shaky legs, I walked over to him and he led me to the guest room. I tripped on my way inside the room—a good thing. Mr. Scott caught me in his arms, leading me to the bed like fragile glassware.
