Chapter 69. The Sacred Heart

“I’m sorry if I woke you,” he whispered, his voice so delicate.

I nodded my head, feeling extremely grateful that he had woken me up. Seeing him happy was something that always brought a smile to my face, especially considering how elusive his smile had become lately. Seeing him grin like that made me truly happy.

Witnessing his face light up like that was truly one of my favorite things in the world. Even if it only lasted for a brief moment, I was still glad that I could make him happy. I adored seeing him happy.

“It’s okay,” I replied gently. “Just don’t do that again, okay?”
