“Blackmailed? Dad, what?” I ask him, and he looks around to see if someone is coming before continuing to speak again.
“Let’s have this conversation in your room, please?” He pleads with me, and I agree easily.
He leads the way as I try to understand what he is saying to me.
He is a senator that has his own water company; he is honest and has always been, how could he be blackmailed? Where is the dirt that could be used against him?
When the both of us have entered my old room, he walks toward the bed and sits on it. He has a worried look on his face that intrigues me even more.
“Dad, how are you being blackmailed?” I ask him as I cross my arms on my chest. I choose to stand rather than sit.
