Chapter 30. Shattered Trust

“We don’t have secrets,” I say to her, and a look of guilt and shame covers her face.
“Chris, the day after our wedding, I disappeared for a whole day, and when you asked me about it, I told you that I went to visit my aunt who had cancer,” she reminds me, and I nod slowly.
Where is she taking this?
“I lied, I went to see someone,” she explains, but I am still confused.
“I don’t get why you are bringing up something that happened long ago,” I chuckle lowly as I reply to her.
“Will you just listen?” She begs me, and I sigh loudly.
“The guy I went to see was not just any guy, he was a lover,” she says as her eyes glisten with tears.
“Ha-ha, very funny, Violet,” I say to her in response, but when I notice that she is not laughing, I stare at her for a few seconds.
“What?” My voice cracks.
“I have been cheating on you from the day we got married, Chris. I have not been the wife you thought I was,” she sniffles af
