Chapter 7. Witnessing Change

“Wait, is this a prank? Did Chris put you all up to do this?” I ask loudly, chuckling lightly as I study the facial expressions of the people in this beautiful room.

The entire ceiling is a painting, and the walls look like they were painted with gold and diamonds. The air smells like lavender, and the floor is so smooth that it mimics a mirror. I can literally see my reflection in it.

“Linda, you are our hostage. I sent my disciples to kidnap you because I needed Mr. Kingston to pay his debts. He has forty-eight hours to do so, or I would have to take some drastic measures,” the lady with the veil stands to her feet as she explains.

“Seems a bit made up, considering that Chris is a billionaire and could pay you within a blink of an eye,” I reply to her. Sue scoffs in response, clearly amused by what I just said because she is giggling.

“You have so much to catch up with, but I will not be the one to help you with that. Your boyfriend will,”
