Chapter 49. Rebellions, Gossip, and a Lot of Pain

Benson’s POV

My head throbs with pain, my stomach churns with nausea, and I feel like my bones are grinding. But none of that compares to the slap Emily gave me, the pain I saw in her eyes and felt in her body.

I didn't know how to explain to her that I didn't know what had happened. That I didn't remember anything. My memory is hazy, with fragments of what Nina did.

"Dismiss everyone home," I order my Beta.

Emily's guests, mostly from the Blue Bay Pack and Moon Shade Pack, look at me with disgust, some shocked. Some I can catch a glimpse of anger and indignation. But there is one... one look that stands out from the rest. A look of pride, of satisfaction. And that look comes from my uncle, Jimmy Doorson. At the same moment, I notice this look, he disappears into the crowd being dismissed from the banquet.
