Chapter 22. Darkness in Him

Xerina’s POV

After talking for another half an hour, we sat and talked about things. Random things. By the time we were done, it was already evening, and the sun was setting. I felt contempt, it was both strange and startling how we managed to talk together and talk, not roast each other but just talk.

No offense or any hard feelings, but Aura was a tough child; it was hard to talk to him, and he was not so friendly. I still didn’t know how Luca managed to befriend him, but whatever it was, I felt a little bit relieved after talking to him.

We exchanged numbers, and he told me he lived nearby, just in another street behind the market.

I invited him over, but he refused, saying he didn’t want to as he had a busy schedule. I didn’t know what he still did, but I let him go.

By the time I went back to the apartment with the groceries, I was again tired. The dream of eating omelet rice was just wishful thinking.

Slumping on the couch, I leaned
