Chapter 20. We Belong To One Another

Emma’s POV

The steady beeping of machines wakes me from my sleep. Stretching my arms wide to my sides, my eyes flutter open, and I see two large men pacing back and forth at the end of my bed. Rubbing my eyes with the heels of my hands I try to make sense of where I am and why Ethan and Daniel have such concerned looks on their faces.

“What is going on?” I ask. My hand clutches my throat because it is painful when I speak. As I wrap my hand around my throat I feel a bandage that is wrapped around it. My fingers begin to peel back the edges of my bandage but Ethan rushes to my side in an instant and covers my hand with his own.

“Leave the bandage on,” He says with a concerned look on his face.

“What happened,” My voice is raspy as I speak.

“You don’t remember?” Daniel asks and I can feel the anger rolling off of him in waves.
