Serena POV

The liquid of the wine sloshed slightly as I strode toward Naomi and Damian. The feel of Myles’ ring on my finger was the only reminder that I had the power to do what I wanted as the pretend wife of Myles Voss. But right now, I wasn’t Serena Lancaster, dutiful contract wife. I was Serena Lancaster, scorned by Damian!

Naomi’s eyes flicked up as I approached and her lips twisting into that practiced smile, the one that had fooled me into thinking she was my best friend.

“Serena,” she purred, tilting her head. “You look radiant. Let’s hope this look stays to hide the not so good look beneath it.” She said sarcastically.

The sweetness in her voice was poison, and I refused to swallow it.

“Funny,” I said, my voice dripping with venom. “I don’t remember sending you an invitation.”

Damian stiffened with his gaze darting between us like a man caught in crossfire.

“Serena, come on… Do we have to do this? You, Myles…”
