Chapter 29

Next Morning 

Danika opened her eyes and yawned, her hair was messy and she looked around in search of Caleb

“He left?” she asked no one 

The silence in the room was her only answer. Danika sat up, rubbing her eyes, trying to shake off the haze of sleep. She looked around the room, taking in the scattered clothes, the rumpled bed, and the space where Caleb should have been.

She felt a pang in her chest, a mix of disappointment and confusion. Why had he left without a word? Without even saying goodbye?

Danika threw off the covers and got out of bed, her bare feet padding softly on the floor. She walked over to the dresser, where she saw a note scribbled on a piece of paper.

It was the information she wanted from him, she opened the file, and pictures of Hazel were brought out
